My wife, Nancy, and I have been attending the Remembrance Day festivities since 1992. We began sponsoring this dinner/ball in 2003 so to have everything for the evening at one location instead of having to travel around and make multiple reservations. Beginning two years ago, introduced two new layers, a Fancy Dress or Masquerade Ball on Friday and a themed Ball on Saturday to make each evening more enjoyable. These are optional but well worth the effort and help us appreciate what our ancestors enjoyed. This year's Friday night Ball will be a Tartan Ball. Any attire that is has a Celtic theme from any period prior to 1865 OR any Civil War attire is welcome for Friday and any Civil War attire is welcome for Saturday.

We invite you to join us in our sixteenth year at The President's Remembrance Day Ball which will be held on TWO nights, Friday and Saturday, November 16th & 17th, 2018 at the Hotel Gettysburg in Gettysburg, PA. Please come and join us for an evening of fine food, dancing and good company. Please continue reading for all the details!

The Sixteenth Annual
Remembrance Day Dinner & Ball

Hello All!
It is with great pleasure that Karen, Nancy and I announce that tickets for this year's Remembrance Day Dinner and Ball are now available! We wanted to freshen things up a bit so we have given each night a different theme, different food, different door prizes and chocolate frames. Here's what's is in store for this year:

Friday night, November 16th
Come Lassies and Laddies to the Friday night President's Remembrance Day Ball. This year’s Fancy Dress theme is The Tartan Ball to commemorate those of Celtic heritage who fought during the Civil War. For 1860s Fancy Dress (costume) gentlemen you may wish to come as an historical character such as Rob Roy, William Wallace, King Robert the Bruce, a clansman in a great kilt, a Chieftain of a clan. Ladies you may wish to come as a simple shepherdess, a milk maid, or a noble clans woman. Be as creative as you like! If you do not wish to wear a fancy dress costume then gentlemen are welcomed to wear kilted attire, or add a waistcoat or cockade of Tartan. Ladies may wish to wear the traditional Tartan sash with your ballgown or add tartan ribbons to your headpiece. Thistles (Scotland), Daffodils (Wales) and Shamrocks (Ireland) can also be incorporated with pride.
Of course, Civil War period attire is always welcome for both ladies and gentlemen. During dinner enjoy the lilting sounds of a Celtic Harpist. Also, Jim Duffy, native of Dunfermline, Scotland, will be reciting by memory Robert Burn’s epic poem 'Tam O’Shanter' while dessert is enjoyed. The ball will begin with the Calling of the Clans led by a bagpiper and Highland dancers will demonstrate their skills during one of the dance intermissions. (will be added once confirmed) This is going to be a spectacular evening you will not want to miss!
